Katie Liu Leung (Chinese: 梁佩詩, born 8
August 1987 in Scotland) is a Scottish actress of Chinese descent who is
playing the character of Cho Chang in the version of the J. K. Rowling
novel, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, released in cinemas November
18, 2005. Leung lives in Motherwell, a town near Glasgow. Her parents
are separated and she currently resides with her father Peter Leung (who
was born in the former British colony of Hong Kong), two brothers (one
is called Jonathon) and a younger sister. After her father saw an advert
on television calling for girls of East Asian appearance to audition for
the role of Cho Chang in London, she travelled out of her native
Scotland to try her luck, and for a bit of shopping. Leung was selected
out of more than 4,000 other hopefuls in the auditions for the part of
Cho Chang.
Relatively little is known about the actress at this point. Daniel
Radcliffe, the actor playing Harry Potter, noted that he found Leung to
be "awesome" and a "really good actress."
