Kate
Bosworth was born on January 2, 1983 in Los Angeles, California. As
a child she moved around a lot with her parents. She moved to San
Francisco in 1989, Connecticut in 1992 and then Massachusetts in
1997.

She learned
how to ride a horse as a youngster and continued to ride in
competitions throughout the country. She also did a little acting
and even appeared in a small community production of Annie.
She wanted to combine her love of horses with her enjoyment of
acting and went to open audition for the Horse Wisperer.
Because she did not have much acting experience she wanted to go
down for the experience of a real audition. In fact, she did not
have any professional portfolio, so she used a photo from a
Christmas card as her headshot. This “experience” led to receiving
a role in the movie.

After the
Horse Wisperer, she took the next 1 ˝ years to get herself
together and finish up high school (where she was an honor student)
before focusing all of her energies on an acting career. In 2000
she received roles on TV (Young Americans) and in the movies
(Remember the Titans and The Newcomers).

Her next
big break came with the release of the surfing movie Blue Crush
in 2002, a surfer movie where she was able to show moviegoers her
beautiful face, body, and even some acting ability. For her role,
she was nominated for two MTV Movie Awards for Breakthrough Female
Performance and Best On-Screen Team w/ Michelle Rodriguez & Sanoe
Lake.

Over the
next few years she has appeared in a number of movies including:
The Rules of Attraction (2002), Wonderland (2003), and
Win a Date with Tad Hamilton! (2004).

In 2003 she
was awarded the Young Hollywood Award for Next Generation – Female.

She will be
appearing in Bee Season and Awake in 2005. She will
also be taking some time in 2005 to take some college psychology
courses. Also note, she broke up with boyfriend
Orlando Bloom in February
because of their heavy work schedules. [Note: rumor is that they may
be back together again 3/21/05]

It was
announced in early 2005 that Kate will be appearing as the next
on-screen Lois Lane in Superman Returns, slated to be
released in 2006.

Other
hobbies and interests: riding horses, playing soccer and lacrosse,
surfing, her cats.
