Julia
Roberts was born in Smyrna, Georgia on October
28, 1967. Her father died when she was very
young (1977). She attended Griffin Middle School
and Campbell High School

She has
a brother Eric Roberts (actor) and sister Lisa
Roberts Gillan. She also has a half-sister,
Nancy Motes.

She did
not grow up wanting to be an actress; in fact
she wanted to be a veterinarian growing. As she
got older, her interests changed and she pursued
journalism in school.

She
began to dabble in acting towards the late 1980s
when she received small roles in 1987 on
television (Crime Story) and the movies (Firehouse).

Over
the next two years she appeared in a few films
that began to provide some exposure to this
pretty twenty year old actress: Mystic Pizza
(1988) and Steel Magnolias (1989).
