  •  Julia Roberts was born in Smyrna, Georgia on October 28, 1967.  Her father died when she was very young (1977). She attended Griffin Middle School and Campbell High School

  •  She has a brother Eric Roberts (actor) and sister Lisa Roberts Gillan.  She also has a half-sister, Nancy Motes.

  •  She did not grow up wanting to be an actress; in fact she wanted to be a veterinarian growing. As she got older, her interests changed and she pursued journalism in school.

  •  She began to dabble in acting towards the late 1980s when she received small roles in 1987 on television (Crime Story) and the movies (Firehouse).

  •  Over the next two years she appeared in a few films that began to provide some exposure to this pretty twenty year old actress: Mystic Pizza (1988) and Steel Magnolias (1989).
