Jennifer
Lopez was born on July 24, 1969 in The Bronx,
New York to her parents David and Guadalupe.
She has two sisters Leslie and Lynda. [Note: she
was not born in 1970 as some other websites have
reported. She celebrated her 35th birthday
in 2004 - i.e., she was born in 1969]

She
began taking dancing and singing lessons at the
age of five.

At
eighteen she left home, worked at a law firm for
a short while, but continued to take dancing
lessons.

In
1986 she had a small role in the movie My
Little Girl.

In
1990 she landed her first role on TV as a dancer
in the comedy variety show In Living Color.

Her big
break as an actress came in 1995, when she was
cast in the movie My Family. For this
role, she was nominated for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Female.
The same year she was also in the move Money Train
and was nominated for the NCLR Bravo Award for Outstanding Actress in a Feature Film.

Outside
of her music, her acting career hit new heights
in 1997 when she starred in the movie Selena.
