James Holzier was born on August 11, 1982 in Fairfax, Virginia to
parents Jim and Christine Holzier. He has two older sisters (Carrie
and Kristi). [Note: He was born premature by 3 months and only
weighed 2 pounds at birth. The doctors gave him little chance of
living.]
·
At about age 3 his family relocated from Virginia
to the city of Houston, Texas (they moved around the area a lot but
finally settled in Clear Lake, which is outside of Houston). He
showed an aptitude towards entertaining at an early age. He was 9
years old and he was denied entrance in a citywide talent contest
because you needed to be 18 to enter. He was told by producers to
leave but he was adamant about auditioning. Eventually, the
producers caved in and he was allowed to enter. Not only did he
just enter, but with over a hundred contestants (who were all 18 and
over). He finished in the top 3.
·
At age 10 he had a a near death experience. He was rushed to the
hospital with bad stomach pain. It became so bad that for a few
moments, he flat-lined. (He came back though obviously.)
·
His first acting job was a commercial at age 11. Dozens of
commercials soon followed.
·
At age 12 he appeared in a number of plays. He also was the
only young actor asked to be in adult acting classes. He was in
theatrical productions such as Generations of Time and
Never Letter. A play in which he portrayed a young boy who tries
to make it through a concentration camp during the Holocaust. He
also performed in a number of Shakespearean plays such as Romeo
and Juliet and Othello. He received lots of acclaimed
buzz for this and many other plays. His reputation as a good actor
spread and he soon was offered roles in films.
·
James decided to go to school instead of pursuing a movie career in
his early teen years. He said no to stay true to commitments. In
school, although he was the class clown type he was committed to his
studies and his school (Clear
Lake High School in Houston, Texas). In
fact, he turned down a role in The Postman so he could
continue with his schoolwork and keep a commitment to be in a
production of Look Homeward Angel at his High School.
·
Technically, not since 1954 has an American actor come out of
nowhere like this. It doesn't matter if any film he does bombs cause
he is about to explode. He has become the first actor in
history before one film if not several films to have International
Fan Days dedicated to him around the world. James Holzier mania
will be taking on a life of its own. Let's hope he will be able to
adjust.
