Emilie de Ravin (pronounced de rav-vin) was
born on December 27, 1981 in Mount Eliza, Victoria, Australia. Currently
starring in the hit ABC drama Lost as the character Claire Littleton,
she spends most of the year in Oahu, Hawaii where the show films.
The beautiful blonde was previously best
known for her role as alien/human hybrid Tess on the teen drama Roswell,
a role which she landed within one month of moving to Los Angeles from
her native Australia at just 18 years of age.
Having studied ballet since the age of
nine, she was accepted into the highly selective Australian Ballet
School at fifteen, performing in productions of the Australian Ballet
Company as well as Danceworld 301. Emilie also studied acting at
Australia's National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), and with the
Prime Time Actors Studio in Los Angeles.
On 1 January 2005 Emilie became engaged to
actor Josh Janowicz while they visited her family in Australia for the
holidays.
