Chyler Leigh Biography
Chyler Leigh Potts was born on April 10, 1982
in Charlotte, North Carolina. She has a brother, Christopher Khayman Lee
Potts, who is also an actor.
She was raised as a child in Virginia Beach,
but moved further south with her mom to live in Miami, Florida in 1994. She
spent most of the year traveling with her family (mother, brother and step
father) throughout the Caribbean (fast fact: she was home schooled for her 7th
grade). When her family got back home and was settled in, Chyler went back
to school. However, this beautiful young girl began to do some modeling.
By 1996, she was on the modeling circuit, but
also wanted to express herself as an actress. She first started doing
commercials, but eventually debuted on television in a news program for
teenagers called Hall Press. Over the next few years she appeared on
a few other TV series, including the children’s program Kinetic City
Super Crew (1997) and the pilot for Saving Graces (1999), as well
as a small role in the movie Kickboxing Academy. However, she began
to gain notice within the industry and was selected for the role of Jamie
Martin on the TV series Safe Harbor in 1999. The following year, the
cast of that show was nominated for the Young Artist Award for Best
Performance in a TV Series - Young Ensemble. However, the series only
lasted one season. Chyler then took other rolls, including a recurring role
as Frankie on the popular TV series 7th Heaven.
It was not until 2001 that she received her
breakout roll. However, it was more for her looks than her acting in the
popular teen spoof movie Not Another Teen Movie. In 2002, she won the
Young Hollywood Award for Exiting New Face – Female. She was also ranked
number 41 in Stuff magazine’s 102 Sexiest Women of the World for
2002, and number 65 in Maxim’s Hot 100 of 2002.. Afterwards, she has
garnered other rolls on various television shows, including That 80s Show
(2002), Girls Club (2002), The Practice (2003) and Reunion
(2005). [Fast fact: Marilyn Manson’s song “Tainted Love” appeared in Not
Another Teen Movie and Chyler Leigh also appeared in the music video.]
In 2002, she married actor Nathan West. They
first met on the set of Saving Graces in 1999. Then West proposed to her
while they were working on the set of Not Another Teen Movie. They
have a son, Noah Wilde, who was born in December 2003.
