Cheyenne Kimball Biography
Cheyenne Kimball was born on July __, 1990
in Little Elm, Texas (just outside of Frisco). She has an older sister.
She is sort of a musical prodigy. She had
begun writing songs at a very young age. She wrote her first song when
she was eight years old after she got in trouble teasing her older
sister. She was sent up to her room as a punishment and decided to
write a song (“All I Want Is You”) to try to alleviate the situation.
In 1999, at the age of nine she entered
herself in a local talent contest without asking her parent’s
permission. When they found out, they let her go anyway, thinking it
may deter her from wanting to do it again. However, she was a hit and
loved performing (she placed second). Watching her on stage, her
parents decided that this is where she belonged.
Over the next few years, she continued to
perform around Texas and write more songs [over 200]. In 2003, this
young talent got her big break when she saw a newspaper article about a
talent contest in the local newspaper. She entered and was invited to
compete. It wound up being for the television series America’s Most
Talented Kid – it was kind of like a star search for kids. Not only
was she a favorite contestant, but she won the contest and walked away
with $50,000! It even gets better, by the end of the year she was
signed to Sony/Epic Records to a big record deal.
While she was not performing or competing,
she was going to Clark Middle School in Frisco, Texas. She was also very
good at school and was on the honor roll.
The record label sent her around the
country and to learn from other musicians in the industry. After three
years of learning from some of the best, she went into the studio and
recorded a bunch of songs for her debut album, The Day Has Come.
[fast fact: she actually recorded more than 50 songs, and had a hard
time to pick only twelve.] Two members of the former band Blind Melon,
Brad Smith (bass) and Christopher Thorn (guitar) sat in on the recording
sessions, and the three formed a great bond together. Blind Melon was
also one of Cheyenne’s favorite bands while first getting into music.
In fact, it was because of the band that she taught herself to play
guitar.
After recording the album, she moved to Los
Angeles with her family to be closer to her career. Her fans will get
to see her trials and tribulations of recording and rising to fame in
(another) new reality show entitled “Cheyenne” on MTV at the end of May.
Cameras followed her around the studio and at home as she readies
herself for success.
Her debut album is due to be released on
July 11, 2006, but her first single “Hanging On” along with a video were
released the previous April to huge success. She also leant her voice
to the soundtrack for the movie Aquamarine, which includes her
song “One Original Thing.”
