B5: History

B5 is an R&B/crunk boy-band made up of 5 brothers out of Atlanta, Georgia.  B5 is short for Breeding 5 –the five Breeding Brothers. It was originally called the TNT Boyz, but changed the name when Dustin, the youngest brother joined their band.  In the late 1990s they began performing at contest around town and regionally – and they won many of them.

The names and birth dates of the brothers are (from oldest to youngest):

Bryan (Oct. 14, 1994)

Carnell (Nov. 3, 1991)

Patrick (Sept. 19, 1990)

Kelly (Feb. 27, 1989)

Dustin (Oct. 8, 1987)

In 2001, they were noticed by some industry insiders, who introduced them to Diddy who signed on with Bad Boy Records and began to record their first few songs. They soon released their first single, “Al I Do” which broke into the Billboard’s R&B singles chart at #71.  When they released their self-titled album, B5, later that year, it made its way up to #17 on Billboard’s top 200 album chart.

Their album was not a huge commercial success, however, they began to gain a following from younger listeners and became a top played song on Radio Disney.

They made news in November (12th), 2005, when they caused a ruckus during a free concert at a mall in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  While performing, the crowd of approximately 2500 teenage girls stormed the stage – which collapsed.  People were injured, the concert was obviously stopped and the brothers quickly made it out of town.
