September 27, 1984 in Napanee, Ontario (Canada).

At 16 she dropped out of
school, moved to New York City and began to work
on her music career.

In 2002, she released her
first album, Let Go, which included the
song complicated that went straight up to the
top of the charts.

She won the
ASCAP Award
for Most Performed Song from a Motion Picture
for her songs in Bruce Almighty.

In June 2005 Avril Lavigne
got engaged to rocker Deryck Whibley.
