Born
in Brooklyn, New York on December 19, 1972 to
Tom and Lin Milano. Soon after birth her
family moved to Staten Island, where she spent
her early years growing up.

In
1979, at age seven, she was brought along with
her babysitter to an audition for the national
tour of the play Annie. Although the
purpose was for the babysitter to audition, it
was Alyssa who won a role as one of the orphans
(named July).

Alyssa
left the tour in 1981 to work on off-Broadway
plays and television commercials.

In
1983 she got her big break and received a role
as Tony Danza's Brooklyn born daughter on the
hit TV series Who's the Boss.

She
received her first movie role in 1985, when she
played Arnold Schwarzenegger's daughter in the
movie Commando where she was nominated
for the Young Artist Award for Exceptional
Performance by a Young Actress Starring in a
Feature Film - Comedy or Drama.

She was nominated
in 1988 for the
Young Artist
Award for Best Young Actress in a Special,
Pilot, Movie of the Week or Mini-Series for her
role in the movie
Dance ‘Til Dawn.

She
had a best-selling exercise videos for teens
called Teen Steam in 1989. In addition,
Ariel in Disney’s The Little Mermaid was
created using her as the model for the
character.

1989
also began her short lived singing career in
which she released five albums between 1989 and
1992 in Japan. All of which went platinum.

During
the 90’s she took roles in movies that did not
do so well in the box office, or roles that
began to give her a sexier image.

She
starred in the movie Fear in 1996.

In
1997 she appeared as Jennifer Mancini on the TV
series Melrose Place. That year she also
starred in the critically acclaimed movie
Hugo Pool and she was awarded with the
Spirit Award for Women.

In
1998 she began her role on the TV series
Charmed where she and her family are
witches.

On New
Year’s Day of 1999 she married rock star Cinjun
Augustus Tate (Remy Zero), but the marriage only
lasted a few months.

She was nominated
for the Annie Award for Outstanding Individual
Achievement for Voice Acting by a Female
Performer in an Animated Feature Production for
the voice of Angel in Lady and the Tramp II
in 2001.
