Adam Brody: Biography

  • Adam Brody was born on December 15, 1979 in San Diego California. He has two twin (fraternal) brothers, Matt and Sean.

  • He was not interested in acting until his later years in Scripps Ranch High School, in fact he was more interested in becoming a professional surfer.  He was a normal kid, playing sports, hanging with friends and having an after school job  (e.g., worked at Blockbuster). After High School, he began to attend MiraCosta College in Oceanside, but in 1999, after he moved to Los Angeles and hired an acting coach and a manager.  However, he needed to lie to his parents, and told them he was transferring to another college there.

  • He quickly received his first parts on television, first portraying a young Barry Williams in Growing Up Brady, a made for TV movie, then appearing on the Amanda Show in an ongoing Brady Bunch satire as  Greg Brady.  These gave him some fame with the younger crowd, which led the way to his role on MTV’s series Now What.  He also appeared in several movies and on television at this time as well. His most outstanding television appearance has been as an on-again, off-again love interest on the Gilmore Girls, in which he had a reoccurring role.  Some of his film credits include roles in the teen classic American Pie 2, the scary and successful The Ring and the extreme sport movie Grind.

  • His big break on television came in 2003, when he appeared as Seth Cohen on the popular television series The O.C., which he is still currently on.

  • Hobbies and Interests: Surfing, playing basketball, playing drums (in a band called Big Japan, formerly Steve’s Team)

  • Favorites: actors = Vince Vaught, Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Matt Damon, Hugh Grant, actresses = Sandra Bullock, Julia Roberts, Food = Matt Miller Sandwich (at Canter’s Deli in L.A.), music = Bright Eyes, Ben Folds, Elliot Smith, Death Cab for Cutie, books = The Catcher in the Rye, The Amazing Adventures of Cavalier and Clay.
